Green Action: Enroll in a recycling and/or composting program with the City of San Francisco.
Composting and recycling is now required by law for all multi-family residences & businesses. Further, you can significant reduce your trash collection bill by enrolling.
HOW TO ENROLL:
Call your current garbage collection company, either:
1) Golden Gate Disposal, (415) 626-4000; or
2) Sunset Scavenger, (415) 330-1300
(if you are unsure who your collection service is, refer to your most recent garbage collection bill)
Tell them your business wants to start recycling, composting, or both.
Work with Golden Gate or Sunset Staff to determine the size of bin you need (32, 64, or 96 gallon) and the days of collection.
Also inquire about the rebate program where you can earn up to a 75% discount on your garbage collection fee if you’re able to divert greater than 75% of your existing garbage to recycling and composting collection.

EMPLOYEE & CUSTOMER EDUCATION:
Once you are enrolled in a recycling and/or composting program ensure that your employees & customers know what items can be recycled and composted and can easily recycle and compost.
