Overview / Material: Made from Ingeo™, which is derived from plants grown in the USA. BPI certified.
Applications: Perfect for salads and cold foods. Lids sold separately.
Sizes: 32 & 48 oz
Design: Lids snap firmly inside the bowl to make a secure seal.
Composting: ASTM D6400-99 certified for “compostable plastics”. Even though they are as light and strong as plastic, they fully biodegrade when composted.
Overview / Material: Made from wheatstraw fiber, an annually renewable resource that is the remaining plant material after the wheat grain and chaff have been extracted. Gluten Free !
Applications: Great for a range of hot (up to 200 f) & cold foods. We also offer lids for our plant fiber bowls but they fit loosely. Therefore, using the bowls with lids for take out is not recommended for hot liquid foods. Check out our Hot Paper Bowls below for take out applications.
Sizes: These biodegradable bowls range in size from 6 ounce to our 32 ounce burrito bowl.
Design: The compostable bowls are soak proof and do not have any plastic or wax lining, however hot foods – and in particular hot, heavy foods – will cause the biodegradable bowls to “perspire” and some condensation can form at the bottom.
Composting: Our bowls meet the most stringent scientific requirements for biodegradability and compostability, and are ASTM D6400-99 certified for “compostable plastics”. Even though they are as light and strong as plastic, they fully biodegrade when composted.
Overview / Material: Biodegradable bowls are made with paper and are lined with Natureworks Ingeo polylactic acid (PLA), which is derived from plants grown in the USA.
Applications: Great for hot and cold foods up to 200 F.
Sizes: Available in 8oz – 32 oz sizes.
Design: Most traditional paper bowls are not compostable in commercial composting facilities as they are lined with polyethylene. These compostable bowls are lined with a fully compostable bio-plastic corn resin and are also clearly labeled as compostable.
Composting: Composting is required for biodegradation. These compostable bowls are BPI certified. They will biodegrade within 180 days in a commercial composting facility, but may take up to a year or more to biodegrade in a home composting system.
